Cellulite Solutions: New Treatment Options

Cellulite is a problem most women deal with. According to Hollywood dermatologist and author of The Cellulite Solution, Howard Murad, cellulite has nothing to do with how much a woman weighs or how much she loses because it is a skin problem not a fat problem. And since it isn’t about being fat or losing weight, diets and exercises are not exactly cellulite solutions.

The best cellulite solution therefore, would be a treatment specifically-designed for cellulite, such as the following:

  • Endermologie
  • VelaSmooth
  • TriActive
  • Mesotherapy

Endermologie is the first nonsurgical and noninvasive treatment for cellulite reduction to be cleared by the Food and Drug Authority.

Originally, the Endermologie device was created in 1980 by French Engineer Louis-Paul Guitay to treat scars of burn patients. During this time, Guitay and his team realized that the treatment also had positive effects on cellulite.

Today, Endermologie is a known solution for cellulite. It is a safe treatment; no serious side effects are noted since it has been used for cellulite reduction.

The treatment also provides other benefits such as reducing body measurements, promoting and increasing circulation, relieving muscle pains, reducing water retention, detoxification and stimulation of collagen for smoother, younger skin.

An Endermologie procedure can be compared to a deep tissue massage where mechanical rollers lift connective tissues just below the skin. Before the procedure starts, patients are provided body stockings for efficient massage and modesty. A typical treatment session takes about 45 minutes.

The cost of a total Endermologie treatment which usually consists of 16 sessions may reach at least $2000.

VelaSmooth by Syneron is a recent addition to anti-cellulite technology. It utilizes an innovation known as elos (electrical optical synergy) technology which reduces cellulite through a synergy of bi-polar radio frequency and optical light.

VelaSmooth is an FDA-approved anti-cellulite treatment that does not pose any risk to the epidermis, compared to intense pulse light (IPL) and conventional lasers.

The device has a specially-designed applicator that makes it easy to treat problem areas such as the hips, abdomen, buttocks, arms, calves, bra line and neck. It features a vacuum function and specially-designed motorized rollers that smoothes the skin for efficient energy delivery.

This noninvasive anti-cellulite treatment is safe and effective on all skin types and skin colors. It is also capable of contouring the body and provides other benefits such as increased cell oxygenation by heating the skin, increased metabolism of fat deposits, decreased muscle aches and pains, increased circulation and firm skin.

VelaSmooth requires at least 10 treatment sessions for successful results. A complete treatment can cost at least $2,000.

Cynosure Tri-Active Cellulite Workstation is an FDA-cleared over-the-counter cellulite reduction device. It is a mechanical massager that painlessly works to enhance microcirculation and increase skin elasticity.

The device features six triode lasers that deeply penetrate and stimulate tissues for increased collagen production that will provide a smoother and healthier-looking skin.

The Tri-Active system may also be used for a therapeutic massage to relieve muscle aches and pains. It is a safe anti cellulite solution that can be used to complement other surgical or nonsurgical treatments and enhance its outcomes.

At least 10 to 15 Tri-Active treatments are necessary to achieve desired results, which will cost at least $1500.

Mesotherapy is a new and promising anti-cellulite treatment that originated in France and is popular in the US. It was invented by Dr. Michel Pistor in 1952 as an alternative to liposuction.

Mesotherapy reduces cellulite by injecting fat-busting drugs combined with vitamins and minerals directly into the mesoderm. The injected formula works thoroughly to disable the fat pockets and increase the metabolic rate of fat stores that are cellulite. Once the cellulite is broken down, it becomes easy for the body to flush it out.

Although meostherapy has not been approved by the FDA as a cellulite reducer, it has been approved for treating headaches, backaches and cosmetic conditions such as acne, stretch marks, scars and wrinkles.

A series of 10 correctly-done mesotherapy treatments provide permanent results and can cost at least $2,000.

Stop trying to get rid of your cellulite with diet and exercise, instead, resort to cellulite solutions that work.

New Cellulite Treatment: New Options for Getting Rid of Cellulite

Many say that the best way to deal with cellulite is through dieting and exercising. But despite all the efforts in keeping the body fit, cellulite problems haven’t disappeared. Now is the time to look for other options.

Try out these new cellulite treatments:

1. VelaSmooth is the latest advancement in cellulite reduction. It is a new cellulite treatment created by Syneron that utilizes elos technology which reduces cellulite through simultaneous pulses of bi-polar radio frequency and optical light.

The electrical optical synergy (elos) technology is developed by Dr. Shimon Eckhouse, inventor and patent holder of the Intense Pulse Light, with master physicist Dr. Michael Kreindel.

Compared to intense pulse light and conventional lasers, the synergy between radio frequency and optical light does not pose any risk to the epidermis.

VelaSmooth is an FDA-cleared anti-cellulite device that is also capable of contouring your body. This device features a vacuum function and specially-designed mechanical rollers that smooth out the skin to facilitate safe and efficient energy delivery.

The VelaSmooth applicator also makes it easy to close in on target areas such as the hips, abdomen, buttocks, arms, calves, neck and bra line.

This noninvasive and nonsurgical anti-cellulite treatment increases oxygen to the cells by heating the skin. This process increases the metabolism of fat deposits. But aside from being an effective cellulite reducer, VelaSmooth also provides benefits such as decreasing muscle aches and tension, increasing circulation, tightening and firming the skin.

A VelaSmooth treatment does not require any recovery time and has no side effects. It is safe and effective on all skin types and skin colors.

A complete VelaSmooth treatment requires 10 sessions and can cost at least $2,000.

2. Cynosure Tri-Active Cellulite Workstation is the only FDA-approved over-the-counter cellulite reduction device which offers an innovative and painless treatment.

Tri-Active works as a mechanical massager that enhances microcirculation which increases skin elasticity and improves lymphatic drainage. The device’s six triode lasers deeply penetrate tissues and stimulate collagen production for smoother and healthier-looking skin.

Aside from reducing and treating cellulite problem areas, the Tri-Active system may also be used for therapy massage to relieve muscle aches and pains.

As it is proven safe, Tri-Active can be used to complement other cellulite treatments and enhance outcomes.

To achieve desired results, at least 10 to 15 Tri-Active treatments are necessary, costing at least $1500.

3. Endermologie is a noninvasive method of reducing cellulite. The Endermologie device was originally created to cure muscular injuries and treat burn scars then eventually became a new treatment for cellulite.

Endermologie is the first treatment to be cleared by the Food and Drug Authority for reducing cellulite, reducing body measurements, promoting and increasing circulation, relieving muscular pain and reducing muscle spasms.

Endermologie treatments also provide other health benefits such as reducing bloating due to water retention, breaking down and eventual elimination of fat cells, detoxification and stimulation of collagen for smooth, younger skin.

The procedure for Endermologie is similar to that of a deep tissue massage. Mechanical rollers fold and lift connective tissue beneath the skin. The patient is required to wear a body stocking for modesty and massage efficacy. A single procedure would take up to 45 minutes and at least 16 treatment sessions are required which would cost at least $2400.

There are no serious side effects noted in the use of Endermologie but temporary external bruising may occur during and after the treatment.

4. Mesotherapy is a promising cellulite treatment that is an alternative to liposuction. This treatment originated in France in 1952 and was invented by Dr. Michel Pistor.

Cellulite reduction is achieved through mesotherapy by injecting a combination of drugs and vitamins directly into the mesoderm disabling the fat pockets and breaking down cellulite making it easer to be flushed out of the body. The formula for the injection aims to reduce fat deposits, improve poor circulation and repairs damaged connective tissues.

Meostherapy is also effective in treating headaches, backaches and cosmetic conditions such as acne, stretch marks, scars and wrinkles.

Successful and permanent results are achieved after at least 10 treatments which costs around $2,000.

5. Cellulite Creams are topical remedies for treating cottage-cheese skin. There are many anti-cellulite creams and lotions marketed today such as Biotherm Celluli Laser D.Code Anti Cellulite Cream.

The Biotherm new cellulite treatment cream is a light gel that contains Phytosveltyl, sacred lotus extract, yerba mate, green coffee, caffeine and gingko bilboa. These ingredients are easily absorbed by the skin intensely hydrating it and visibly smoothing its surface.

Biotherm anti cellulite cream is effective because of “gene technology” which retrains your cells to age differently.

With so many new cellulite treatments to choose from, there’s one that will surely work for you. You can also consider an all natural product that reduces cellulite like the Revitol cellulite solution cream.

Cellulite Treatment Options

Cellulite treatment is an option given to women who want to get rid of cellulite in their body. The term cellulite refers to the lump of fat deposits that push and distort the connective tissues that leads to changes in appearance of skin. These lumps are commonly found on body areas such as the buttocks, stomach and thighs and are mostly found on women than in men.

Cellulite is usually caused by:

  • Hormonal changes in puberty, pregnancy and pre or post menopausal periods;
  • Hormonal anomalies such as overproduction of estrogen and disturbance in endocrine functions;
  • Lack of exercise and over consumption of saturated fats and sugar;
  • Poor hydration;
  • Poor blood circulation; and
  • Poor lymphatic flow.

There are many cellulite treatments which are known to effectively remove cellulite and to bring back the smooth appearance of skin.

  • Topical treatments through cellulite creams that are formulated with methylxanthines (aminophylline, caffeine and theophyilline). When these cellulite creams are applied on skin, these chemicals work to break down fat deposits. Revitol Cellulite Solution is an example of an effective way to treat cellulite with a topical cream.
  • Dietary treatments through natural supplements that are made with the following ingredients: Ginkgo Biloba, sweet clover, grape-seed bioflavonoid, bladder wrack extract, oil of evening primrose, fish oil and soy lecithin. These ingredients are known to increase metabolic rate, break down fats, promote good blood circulation and repair cell damage.

  • Dietary treatments through special cellulite diets which recommend eating healthy. It is noted that eating foods that are good for the body decreases fluid retention and contributes to the overall health and appearance of skin.
  • Massage treatments through machines that redistribute fat deposits and temporarily reduce the appearance of cellulite. A popular and expensive multi-session massage treatment which was developed in France and has been around since the mid 1990s is the Endermologie treatment. This treatment is done through an electrically powered suctioning device that pulls and squeeze affected areas.
  • Mechanical treatments through laser or light therapy. These treatments combine the suction, pulling and squeezing with light therapy. Two FDA approved laser therapies are known as TriActive and VelaSmooth. Like Endermologie, these laser treatments are expensive and require multi-treatment sessions.
  • Medical treatments through mesotherapy and collagenase.

Mesotherapy involves injecting drugs into the affected tissue. This treatment is unproven and risky and requires multiple injections to be administered over multiple sessions. For that reason, most experts do not recommend this treatment.

Collagenase on the other hand, is a naturally occurring enzyme that is injected to break down collagen. Like mesotherapy, this treatment is yet to be proven and is not yet routinely available.

  • Cellulite reducing spa treatments through body wraps. Some body wrap treatments are intended for weight reduction and to temporarily reduce cellulite appearance on the skin.

Other than the mentioned treatments, new cellulite treatments have been developed and are also available.

  • Lymphatic Drainage Massage stimulates the lymphatic system and increases its ability to flush away excess water and toxins from the body.
  • Electric Muscle Stimulation is done by attaching pads onto areas that have cellulite. These pads send painless electric currents that provide muscular exercise through contracting and relaxing muscles alternately.
  • Body Brushing is an alternative to body wrap treatments. The body is brushed and massaged at the same time. This removes dead skin cells and stimulates the body making it easy for toxins to be removed.
  • Patch Contour is done by attaching medicated patches on cellulite affected areas. These patches contain Celidium Cartilagenium that converts fat into energy, therefore preventing the occurrence of fat deposits.
  • Tumescent Liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes fat deposits by suctioning it out of the body. Compared to usual liposuction procedure, this does not require general anesthesia because it uses a dilute solution of lidocaine and epinephrine.

The anti-cellulite treatments which have been mentioned have their own pros and cons; therefore, the best cellulite treatment would be to stay healthy by:

  • Drinking plenty of water;
  • Eating fiber-rich and whole grain foods;
  • Eating fruits and vegetables; and
  • Having a regular exercise routine.

The best cellulite treatment options for you are more than likely a combination of treatments. Be sure to make all the healthy lifestyle changes suggested and then try some of the other options to get faster results.
