Laser Hair Removal Face Procedures

A laser hair removal face procedure is a noninvasive technique that deals with unwanted hair growth. The procedure prevents hair from growing by destroying hair follicles through laser light or heat. Latest laser technology makes it possible to do such procedures on different areas of the body—on the face, bikini line, underarms, back, arms and legs—safely and effectively.

Women differ from men in so many ways, especially when it comes to having hair on specific areas such as the face. Men may look good with it but women won’t. For this reason, laser hair removal on face has become a popular technique for women.

Laser face hair removal is a fast, safe and effective way to get rid of unwanted hair on the face. How fast? A typical session of a laser hair removal for face takes about 15 minutes since facial zones are small.

It is easy to say that laser hair removal treatments are the best option for permanently getting rid of unwanted hair, but that’s not always the case. There are things to consider especially when you have light hair and dark skin. Laser hair treatments are usually not effective for this hair and skin type combination.

Laser treatments are also expensive, so you might want to know how much it costs and save up before going through with it, especially when you’re working with a tight budget. The cost for laser treatments varies depending on the targeted areas. Small zones such as the face, bikini line and underarms are usually the ones priced the lowest. A laser hair removal face cost may start from $200 per treatment session.

Some women compare laser facial hair removal with a facial electrolysis treatment. Let’s look at these facial treatments side by side to see each pros and cons.

As mentioned earlier, laser hair treatments are not that effective in light-haired, dark-skinned people. Laser is programmed to target the dark pigment in hair that is not easily seen in light-hair. It is also not advisable for people with dark complexions because laser sometimes cause melanin discoloration that will be obvious in such skin color. You do not want to have uneven skin color anywhere in your body, especially on your face.

Electrolysis, on the other hand, is effective on any type of hair color and skin complexion because it targets follicles individually. It does nothing to the hair and skin’s melanin. But compared to a facial electrolysis, a facial laser treatment is faster because it takes about 15 minutes to do and requires only 4 to 6 sessions. A facial electrolysis treatment will take about 30 minutes and requires 15 to 30 sessions to achieve desired results.

We have also mentioned that a laser facial hair treatment usually costs $200 a session. Electrolysis on facial areas usually cost $60 per treatment session. Multiply the prices to the maximum number of sessions required and we can see that facial laser treatments are cheaper by $600 than the other.

Each of these treatments has their side effects. Laser hair removal should be done with precaution especially on the face because the laser light can possibly damage the eyes. Safety measures must be strictly adhered to. Electrolysis, when improperly done may damage the follicles and may result to permanent skin discoloration.

As for pain factors, laser treatments cause a hot sensation like “rubber band snapping against the skin,” while electrolysis causes the follicles to individually sting and hurt. Unless you’ve gone through any of these procedures, you can only imagine how much it hurts. Most often than not, post care for hair removal treatments such as these two involves the use of topical medication to relieve pain.

Laser facial hair removal and electrolysis may be two different treatments but have one thing in common. Both treatments are approved by the Food and Drug Authority.
